Setting Up A Screener
When you are ready to start recruiting participants, you have the option to set up a participant screener to help identify qualified participants. To do so, navigate to the Recruit page and select the Screener tab.

Here you have similar options to when you set up your question guide:
- Start from Scratch – A blank slate to manually create your screener from scratch
- Paste an Existing Guide – If you have a pre-written screener, you can simply paste it into Strella, and Strella will draft a structured screener
- Generate with AI – Strella can draft a screener based on the information you will be asked in following prompts
If you choose to generate the screener with AI, you will be prompted to provide details about the participants you're looking for—skills, experience, demographics, or other relevant traits. First, select if you are finding participants via self-recruitment or panel recruitment. Then, enter details about your target audience and click 'Submit'.

The AI will then generate a draft of your screener, and you can make any edits as needed.
There are various question types you can use:
- Single select
- Multi select
- Number slider
- Single line text
- Multi-line text

When editing the guide, you can do the following:
- Add a new question by selecting the '+' icon between questions
- Re-order questions by dragging and dropping the 6 dots at the top of a question
- Choose if the question is required or optional by clicking the toggle beside 'Required'
- Duplicate a question by clicking the double square icon in the bottom right corner of the question
- Delete a question by selecting the trash icon in the bottom right corner of the question

Once the screener is complete, select 'Save' and you can begin recruiting participants.
