How To Guide
Tutorial

This tutorial walks you through how to add randomization to your discussion guide. Learn how to add exclusive randomization for monadic testing, or randomize multiple concepts for sequential monadic exposure. Whether you're randomizing questions, concepts, prototypes, learn how to make the most out of your discussion guide.

Randomizing Concepts

When a researcher is testing multiple concepts, it can be important to randomize them to reduce bias. Within the question guide, there are two ways to randomize content:

  1. Exclusive: Participants are assigned one variant at random
  2. Shuffle: Participants see all variants in a random order

To set up randomization, click ‘Add a step’ and select ‘Randomization.'

When the ‘Randomization' item is selected, you can modify the properties of it, including the label, the names of the variants, add or remove variants, and select the variant distribution (exclusive or shuffle).

The variants will default to questions, so if you want to test different questions, you can add them by clicking on the question and entering the question in the text box.

If you want to test three concepts for example, click on the three dots beside each Variant, click the '+' sign and select Image.

Click on the ‘Click to upload’ box on the right side panel to upload the image / concept. Repeat these steps for the rest of the concepts that are being tested.

These steps can be replicated to randomize other stimuli, such as Figma prototypes or videos.
