Strella Changelog – October 23, 2026
This week we shipped tree tests, numbers for unnamed participants, moderated interviews booked across several researchers, and tags as a participant field.

Tree tests
You can now add tree tests to your question guide. Participants get a task and click through your labels until they reach the place they'd expect to find it. The results card lists every route they took, most common first and colored by outcome, with a CSV export.
Unnamed participants get a number
New participants who join without giving a name now get a per-project number, so you can tell them apart. The number follows them across the participants table, transcripts, highlights, reports, and exports, and participants never see it.
Book moderated interviews across several researchers
Several researchers can now run one human-moderated study from their own calendars: each connects their Google Calendar or Outlook once, for every study they're on. Participants are offered times based on the study's booking mode: round robin (any researcher free) or all together (everyone free).
Tags are now a participant field
Tags now belong to the participant instead of the interview. They're a Tags custom field that works like any other participant attribute: a column in the participants table, a filter, and part of exports and Breakdown charts.
Recordings play at 1.2x, with speed and subtitles on the control bar
Interview recordings now play at 1.2x by default, and the player shows the current speed and a CC button on its control bar, or in the ⋯ menu when the player is narrow. In that browser, your speed and subtitle choice carry over to the next interview, clip, or reel you open in Strella.
Small fixes
- AI moderator language: in non-English interviews, the AI moderator's greetings and reminders now use the participant's language, and it keeps one form of "you" throughout
- Website tasks: a participant who closes the website or the floating instructions window can reopen either one from the interview tab
- Microphone at call start: in Chrome, calls now start on the microphone the computer is set to use
